Just ordered Twinkle H2O Paints!

I need to learn to draw. I can fake it sometimes, buti really need to learn to draw. So I was looking for a way to learn to draw painlessly, and in my typical very ADD way, I came across this woman's art:

Her name is dion Dior, and through her blog, I found The Sketchbook Challenge. I just ordered some of the paints she uses and may try this month's challenge:

This month's challenge is Shelter. Since is miss my dog rescue, I would like to draw a person getting shelter under a standing dog. But I can't draw that. Oops, back to my drawing easy search!

Where has this summer gone?

Ugh. Three weeks left to the summer. Even though it is my anniversary (25th) time of year, and my beloved son's birthday time of year, I hate the end of August. Maybe that will change when I retire in 4 years, because I love the feel and colors of autumn! The cool air, the oranges and yellows, I find autumn in the north country to be incredibly inspiring! But work looming - even though I love my job, I don't like the start of a new year.

So I am back to doing some pottery. We raku'd at class, and I got some cool things out of it. My husband, Bill, has started pottery, also, and has made some beautiful sushi plates! I will take some pics and post later!
Peace,
Nancy

Two New Pieces of Pottery

Just got these two from class. The bigger one (about 8 inches tall) was done with much help from my teacher, Chris Walton! Throwing taller is hard for me. I find it much easier to make bowls!!

Gorgeous Ceramic Platter, Hand Built

This platter was hand built and fired to Cone 6, which means that it is dishwasher and microwave safe!! I put an impression of a pine branch on it, and it came out very organically. It would be great for snacks or chips, or to sit on your table and collect things! 17 inches long.

Welcome to my new blog!!

Hi there,
My name is Nancy Dunn, and I am a new artist, exploring lots of different media. I quilt, paint, make pottery and am learning to make jewelry, melting and soldering silver. Lots of fun!!! I am going to show my new creations here, and share some ideas and inspirations.

One of my inspirations right now is from Goff Creek Pottery, near the Finger Lakes in NY.

The potters, Mary Lynn and Robert Good, make incredibly cool and whimsical pottery, much of it for the garden. I fell in love with their birdhouses the first time I saw them! Go take a look, see if you are inspired by them, also!
